18 Apr 2010 Saughall Colts 1 v Westminster Park 2
Saughall started the game very well and were 1.0 up in the first half. we should have put the game to bed with the chances we had but it wouldnt happen. Wesy were popping long balls over the top and we knew this would happen, however the second half witnessed Hichie goe off with a groin strain and this was a massive blow.Wesy gained strenth from this and brought the game to us.
The subs we had were injured and we couldnt change it anywhere and wesy stepped up the pressue. the next goal came from wesy and it was a 30 yard screamer,it was a match winning goal and cedit to the player as it was a goal of the season.
Saughall couldnt reply and had to bring the keeper ouf of goal and put an injured player in to try and get a result.
Lessons will be learned from today, squad size will increase with players and ability will be added.
we have to get out off this rut,and fast unless the season will end in a disaster

Saughall Colts 3 Upton JFC 3
Saughall enertained our local team and as always would prove to be a good derby game
Upton started very brightly and saughall seem to be finding it hard at the minute with players being injured an it really is taking its toll.
This is no excuse as upton were well upfor this and were on a high from last weeks win.
Saughll seemed to be chasing the game and this was a concern, as upton were very good today on the counter and had lots of pace.
Second half and saughall woke up and took the fight to upton, upton's keeper josh played very well in this half and we couldt get the winner.
A fair result with a draw, and it would have been unfair on upton if they lost today. It is very hard to see where they are in the league after playing the way they did today. The ref played a big part today and it was an experience.
Saughall need to get this out of the way, we will take a well earned break for a week and let players recover from the injuries and resume ready for the semi final v wesy park. This will be a big game to deal with, lets hope were up for it !!!
We need to get back to our winning ways and soon, unless the season could end up unhapppy

Saughall Colts 3 v Castrol Celtic 2
Saughall entertained Celtic again for the second time this season, and as always we would have a hard fought game against this Celtic side who we have respect for. The sunshine was a nice rest bite from the cold we have been playing in and most of the players seem to enjoy this.
Saughall started bright enough and had plenty of possession but we wasn’t putting enough decent shots at Celtic’s goal early on. Castrol were having some moves at our goal and were causing us concern, we needed to get the first goal and we knew this would settle us down.
Ryan was captain today and was playing the best he had played so far this season, peppering balls over and through their defence to allow our strikers to run on to. The first goal came in 27 mins from Brandon Garland and this helped settle us down. Saughall were now playing football and passing and moving the ball fluently. The next move resolved from a counter attack through ball and Sam Davies netted the ball 30 mins.
Half time: Team talk was to try and finish it off with another goal.
Second Half: We were pushing on and plenty of chances were going missing and we couldn’t get the next goal.
Castrol scored from some mix up in our box and this was fair as they were getting into the game (13 mins) Saughall kept going forward and we started to pick up injuries. Players were being changed all over the place and this was unsettling for a bit. Castrol scored again with a disappointing goal from our point, when Saughall stopped playing thinking that the ball had gone out of play ( whistle) a Castrol player whipped a fine ball in for a header to be converted (15 mins)
Saughall Knew we had to get the three points today and it would put us back on top. The attacking was a lot better as we were chasing the points and converted a goal from Dean Houston putting a run in from the right wing to produce a fine goal to give us the points (27 mins).
Saughall then closed the game off to gain the points. A good performance today from everyone who took part.
Thanks to Celtic who we probably will not play again as we think they will be disbanding. Thanks lads and good luck !!

Doug Johnson cup semi final
Saughall colts 1 v Tarvin 2
Today was the first Semi final we are in and we would go into this confident from last weeks win. Saughall was unbeaten going into this game from the start of the season and were looking forward to playing this game.
Tarvins team were a lot stronger than we were told and we were finding it hard to get in there half for a lot of the first half. Saughall were not getting a foot hold in this game and Tarvin scored first to put the pressure on Saughall.
We needed to have a reaction and a reply and we got this from some pressure being put on the Tarvins goal and were awarded a free kick. The team captain Luke Hitchman Scored a well taken free kick to get us level and into the break.
Half time we talked about where it was going wrong and tried to put it right for the second half. Both teams were going for the win and a good cup game would unfold.
Saughall were playing better in this half and playing like we can and started to create attacks on Tarvins goal. We had plenty of chances to score again but it just wouldn’t go in and there keeper played very well today.
Tarvin were getting a lot of corners in this half and it was only a matter of time when one would go in, and this it did. Tarvin were now 2-1 up and we had fifteen minutes to get something back.
Saughall were putting the pressure on and Tarvin were getting counter attacks in. The next action saw Ryan get a red card after a Tarvin player got up from a tackle and walked over to push him. The ref sent Saughall and the Tarvin player off which was a shame as the game wasn’t played in this manner.
Tarvin won today, and Saughall were not in this Game until it was too late. A lot of lessons to be learned and this will be put right. This was Saughalls first loss of the season and now we need to react and put this to bed and move on.
A massive league game next week to Princess Villa and we will look forward to getting this out of our system and will need to be at our best against a strong villa side. Well done to Yuseph today as he done a very good job in defence as Osh was missing and partnered Luke.
Let’s move on.

Saughall Colts 4 v Castrol Athletic 2
Today we entertained a strong Castrol Athletic side who we played two weeks ago and was a good contest. Athletic played last weekend and they won 6-3 so this would be a massive test to Saughall’s character.
We set the team to who we thought we would need to mark, as they had pacey player return and Jack who played well against us 2 weeks ago. This worked for one and a half minutes as they hit us on the first break and scored Oh Dear this was a massive task now!!!
Brando Garland who was getting his start replied with a brilliant strike some 30 yards out from the right side up front and it was the goal of the season so far. This settled us a bit and we needed to be composed to our task. Athletic continued to probe and counter and this was a very open game of football on a very nice pitch, this was counter attacking football at its best.
Athletic got a break with the next goal as Saughall seemed to think a Castrol player handballed the ball and Saughall stopped play with shouts of Handball, only for the Athletic players to play on and score ( play to the whistle springs to mind).
2-1 into the break
On the team talk Saughall were reminded of what was at stake and needed to go physical with a strong Athletic side. We needed to play our game and play to our strengths. Dean was playing well and taking the fight to them, but we needed to do this as a team.
Both teams level and Saughall needed to step up the pressure if we were to take anything from this game a big game requires big players, Hitchie was Captain again today he continued with injury and played on. Luke Munday was immense in defence and lots of players were playing there part in the push for points.
We needed a win big time to keep the pressure on waverton today and then up steps Sam Davies, the first goal was scored on 32 minutes as Ryan and Sam were moved onto the left side to push on and this resulted in a wonder goal from a very unusual angle of shooting. 36 minutes ( 4 mins later) Sam again produced a fantastic goal and secured the points. This was a huge test of our character today and boy did we pass the test. I would say this was the hardest game of the season so far so credit to Castrol Athletic.
We told the team that we needed the three points today, and they gave them to us. We are very proud of how the players showed great character and determination to win the game.
Some minor heart attacks in the beginning but a fantastic performance BY ALL to come from behind twice. Next week we play Tarvin in the first semi-final and let’s hope we take this fighting spirit into the game.

Castrol Athletic 1 v Saughall Colts 2
The first game back after Christmas and Saughall were keen to back on the pitch. The weather caused the pitch to be heavy and difficult to play on and both teams deserve credit for playing the game.
A few changes to the line up were made and we knew players would tire during this game, we played some good football in the first half and felt in control of things. We were having some testing shots kept out by there keeper who was playing very well today.
Castrol had some chances however Saughalls defence kept them at bay. Luke (hitchie) Hitchman was captain again today and clearly thrives on the responsibility. Hitchie was on fire today and put in a massive performance and was the drive from the midfield. Castrol found him very difficult to contain.
The first goal came from our new signing Brandon Garland who was playing on the front left and a through ball played to him and he coolly fired it past the goal keeper.
Saughall resumed with pressure on Castrol and Sam Davies was switched to the right side of the front line had an immediate effect when the ball he chased into the corner. Sam cut back inside ands managed to shoot past the keeper from a very tight angle. Two nil into the break.
Team talk over and we knew if we scored again we would be very comfortable, however Castrol were getting some chances and the ref awarded a pen when the saughall defender clearly won the ball. We had to get on with it and there best player (jack) slotted a well taken pen away.
Saughall reacted well and kept playing, never stopping the attacks until the final whistle .A big three points won today and credit to those players who were wet, tired and cold also fitness levels were tested.
The form continues and a big three points away from home.
WELL DONE LADS

Saughall Colts 4 Airbus 4
We entertained Airbus u14 academy to seahill, with match practice much needed as we have had few games over the past few weeks.
The colts have to keep there fitness levels up to maintain the challenges ahead over the coming months.
We were playing an academy side today so this would prove a big test of how far we have come this season. A bit to get going as we had ref problems and had to wait for his game to finish before he could ref our game.
We got going and were both evenly matched however Airbus scored first and this was a test of character of the colts. The first colt’s scorer who was Luke (Bowie) Beaumont who seems to be scoring for fun these days. Both teams were level into the break and were pretty much even in the game.
Second half resumed Airbus scored next to open the game up 7 mins into the half, With Saughall to reply with Brandon Garland (our new signing) to score a headed goal and be brave to win the ball off the goalie.
The next goal came from our captain today Luke (Hitchie) who was playing the strings in the midfield and having a good day. He started a run and converted a strike to give us the lead. This was cancelled out to the end of the game as Airbus scored to both take a point and a fair result.
A very good performance by the colts who have not had a game for a while and put in a solid performance ,thanks to airbus for playing us and a shame the second half had to finish early. Well done to the squad and lots of good come from that game to take into the league.
Saughall scorers – Luke Beaumont 1, Brandon Garland 1, Luke Hitchman 1.

Friendly Saughall Colts 6 Frodsham JFC 1
A Twelve o’clock kick off with some rain and wind, would prove testing conditions. Seahill pitch in fairness was in very good condition due to the weather and was a nice playing surface to play on.
This was a friendly and we would adopt this in the way we looked at the players and the formation. First half and it was a pretty much familiar line up with Ryan Captain of the team making a debut and having time to impress.
Sam Davies and Brandon Garland in attack would prove effective with Sam scoring 12 and a half minutes into the game, saughall has plenty of possession but couldn’t clock up the score at this point.
Brandon put his mark on the game and scored on 16 minutes to settle his game, and play to his potential. Ryan had a good first half and came off injured and Hitchie now took over the armband.
Second half we made massive changes to this half, Macca made his debut in goal with Tom pushing up front as a striker with Hitchie, Rob, Bowie and Joe made their entrance and proved why we are a strong squad with an immediate impact on the game, Thomas made a run forward from the half way line and scored a great goal to silence his critics and prove he is an all round player. (well Done!!)
Hitchie who was now playing as a forward got on the score sheet at 21 minutes was on fire today and relished with the arm band on his arm. Brandon again got himself on the score sheet with an unselfish pass from Hitchie to square to Brandon who hit the ball in to the back of the net. Bowy was getting frustrated at some point with the game he used his pace to great effect and smashed a goal in 31 minutes.
We lost concentration at some point and conceded a goal which was disappointing not to keep a clean sheet, however we had a good run out and kept our fitness levels up. We learned a lot today from individuals in positions and the squad’s performance in the whole. We have great expectations from these boys this year.
Well Done.

Castrol Celtic 2 Saughall Colts 4
Today’s game had a very autumn feel to it with the wind and cold adding to the game, Saughall needed to adapt slightly as a couple of players missing meant we changed things around slightly. Macca was the captain today and this proved a good move as he had a very strong game, the colts played very well with the wind going towards Celtics goal and were strong straight from the off.
We scored the first goal 2 minutes in with a Sam Davies goal, the build up play to this was well worked through the team. The overall passing and movement was of a high standard and the next goal would result from this.
Luke Beaumont was starting up front and had his own fan club to watch him score his first of the day (7 minutes) again from very good work from the team, saughall felt the game was in control, only to allow Celtic to score after being told that he was the danger.
Sadly the next action came when a Celtic player tackled a colt’s player but got injured and had a very nasty cut on his leg. The Celtic player (Ryan) was taken to hospital. The game then resumed some forty minutes later. The score stayed the same into the break.
Second half and Celtic had the wind with them and we made allowances for this, saughall needed to get the next goal to keep the pressure on and we continued to pass the ball well today. Luke Beaumont Scored again today and was enjoying himself, alongside Dean Houston also got himself another goal and kept our goals scored high.
Castrol scored another goal from a well taken corner and a headed goal of some quality, a very well mannered game and a shame that Ryan Celtic player had to get this injury. Overall the colts were very happy with there performance, a couple of mentions to hitchie and macca who had strong games also Luke munday in defence. This was one of the best passing games we have played for a while.
Credit to Castrol who must have been rocked by there player being injured as we had this once happen to us.
Well Done

Saughall Colts 4 v Upton JFC 0
Saughall meet again with Upton after two weeks, eleven nil was the result last time and we knew that this wouldn’t be the case today. A Cup game would ensure plenty of fire and Upton had some pride at stake and had plenty of fire for this game.
Both teams had there chances of going forward, but we felt we could score at anytime but couldn’t get it to happen. Credit to Upton who wouldn’t allow us to play and were aggressive in tackles and Saughall players were on and off the pitch with injuries.
Saughall needed the second goal before the break but it wouldn’t come, we could not settle, as so many players were on/off the pitch. We talked at half time to find the way to finish the game off and this we did. San Davies scored 8 minutes after the break followed by a Dean Houston free kick some 30 yards out, yet again Sam scored 21 minutes in and the game was over.
Saughall today proved we have a squad to deal with this type of tactic and proved they have the bottle to win the game.
Well done lads and when you need to match it physically you proved you can. Macca you played a big part in this.

Waverton 1 v Saughall colts 1
A close contest today between two teams who are evenly matched, Saughall had to get something from this game as we dont do well here normaly, as we dislike the small pitch. Both teams had there chances and Saughall struck first after a few chances to get us going. Macauley had a shot and the keeper was unable to stop it going in.
Saughall needed to get the second but it wouldnt come and waverton scored, the rest of the game both teams had there chances and both keepers were on form today. Saughall had a free kik 10 mins from the end to convert but it wasnt to be.
To be fair,Both teams deserved a point and it would have been cruel to lose. A lot of respect to each other was shown and it was nice to see, well done everyone.

Saughall Colts 4 v Westminster Park 3
The colts entertained wesy park and we new we would be in for a tasty game this afternoon. Some of our players were feeling pretty rough with a cold today and done well to get a game in so well done.
The colts felt comfortable in the game until Wesy Park scored from a free kick then we had a wake up call. We replied straight away with Sam scoring and it was as if we needed this to wake up. We got ourselves back into the game, only to concede with an unusual error just before the break.
A few harsh words were said at half time and this got a reaction from the colts in the second half. Training proved it works when Sam Davies scored with a headed goal and Saughall were now playing like they should be. The colts were now going for the points and we new we had to win today.
Sam Davies scored a fantastic third with an overhead type shot from a corner from Dean and we should have been well in control as Dean Houston got us another goal and this should have closed the game, however wesy scored a lucky goal 7 minutes from time and this put the pressure to make sure we didn’t lose.
Saughall made hard work for themselves today and need to get this put right for the future. The positive is the colts showed great character to win the game and dig deed when they have to.
Well done boys and look forward to next week against waverton.

Saughall Colts 11 v Upton JFC 0
Saughall entertained our local rivals today Upton jfc, and bragging rites are always at stake as most of the lads go to the same school. A twelve o clock kick off gave us an early game.
Saughall colts were on fire for this straight from the whistle and Yuseph Bakir was on the score sheet within2.5 mins. The colts had lots of possession and Upton managed a few attacks towards our goal, however the defence kept them at arms reach today.
The attacking flow was in full force and Yuseph got back on the score sheet at 23 mins and 31 mins later to take some solo first class goals. The score could have been more as Joe and Ryan were unlucky with the Upton keeper keeping them out.
Second half resumed, and Dean Houston got the ball from kick off and raced forward to score no 4 within 31 seconds, this was followed by another goal 16 minutes later.
Osian Gillette was pushed forward to midfield to give us more attacking power and provided us with a 30 yard shot to find the net as the keeper was off his line !,some goal.
Dean again scored to get his hat rick alongside Yuseph and this was the colts at there most devastating performance.
Rob Whales played a big part in today’s game got his reward with the goal of the game and volleyed the ball into the roof of the net some 25 yards out after Upton tried to clear there line, Luke Hitchman was now moved to a strikers position and this paid off immediately with a great goal 27 mins in.
Luke Beaumont scored and osh scored again to give the colts a big win on 31,and 34 mins. This game today witnessed the colts play there best football for a long time. The passing and movement and team work to win the game was very impressive.
Every player who took part played fantastic and proved it was essential to have a strong squad, with players missing and still put in that performance. A MASSIVE Well done to all the lads.

Saughall colts 2 v Princess Villa 2
Today’s game would witness last season’s winners and runners up play each other for the first time this season. This would a big test for both teams today with even numbers and it proved to be a good contest.
First half and Saughall had plenty of possession and had there chances to score goals, we couldn’t find the net in this half and villa scored after we were caught out and they countered well.
After the break changes were made as some players were feeling injuries niggling them and we had to make changes, Macca and Ryan had to go off and both played well today. Matty and Rob made their entrance and both had good games today. Saughall got back in the game with Sam Davies scoring, then the hard work was undone when Villa got another goal.
Saughall were putting themselves under pressure today and everyone had to dig deep, the Colts wouldn’t give in today and we equalised with the captain today Luke Hitchie finding the net.
Both teams could have won this game today and it was a credit to watch attacking football of this standard.
A lot of players played well today; however we singled out Ryan for his first half performance only to go off injured, and the man who won m.o.t.m. was Luke Munday who kept a lot of Villa players at bay.
Well done to all the players for today’s effort, and character for getting back into the game.
Saughall scorers Sam Davies, Luke Hitchman
Saughall m.o.t.m. Luke Munday.

Park Saints 0 v Saughall Colts 9
Saughall entertained Park Saints today away from home. Last season we were beaten 8-1 and we did not want to repeat the score line, Park Saints were low on numbers today and it was a decision taken by them to play us with low numbers. It is a shame as we wanted to meet them with even numbers today, Park Saints started well and kept us out to a 1-0 lead by a Luke Beaumont goal before the break. We were a bit concerned only to be 1-0 as they hit us on the counter a few times.
Second half after instruction we knew they would tire and we could counter this, we kept producing attack after attack and Sam who was frustrated in the first half got his reward with a hat trick. Dean Houston had another great game and scored 2 good goals, and what a great signing he turned out to be. Hitchie played a big part in midfield with Macca to allow us to counter attack. Ryan was our captain today and done a good job as player and captain and proved he is up to the job. Rob & Matty came on to enforce our numbers and every player played their part today.
Last of all Joe Dean entered the pitch second half and scored 2 goals to earn himself the M.O.T.M award. Credit to Park Saints who played the game with low numbers. Saughall played well today and Park saints proved to be a stern test for next weekend against Princess Villa .
Well Done
