Hope Farm Rangers 2 Saughall Colts 1

A typical blustery autumn afternoon saw the reverse fixture of these two teams who had played against other the previous week. Saughall were determined to avenge the 8-1 defeat the previous week. Sam Evans in goal pulled off some fantastic saves. Kim McKee in the midfield was having a fantastic game getting plenty of tackles and good passing in.

Joshua Blackwell got his first goal for the club to make the half time score 1-0 to Saughall.

Second half saw Hope Farm throwing everything they could at Saughall. A tackle in the box saw a Hope Farm player go down and a dubious penalty was awarded only for Sam Evans to make an easy save.

Hope Farm eventually managed to score twice, the second goal 5 minutes from time.

Once again, Saughall showed what a good side they are. Patience is now the key to getting a result and once that has been achieved the confidence within the team will rocket upwards.

Well done lads.

Saughall Colts 1 v 8 Hope Farm Rangers

On a breezy sunny afternoon, Saughall and Hope Farm met for the first time. Saughall had most of the possession for the most of the game, but Hope Farm broke very quickly. There was tireless running in the middle from Jake Edwards who had to fill in for Spencer Rogers when Spencer came off to have a rest from a niggling groin strain. The post was hit twice, once by Spencer Rogers and once by Daniel Bretton. Daniel has started to find his range with his passes in last weeks match and again today.

Most of the goals came unfortunately from players who were offside. The final score was 8-1 to Hope Farm but if Saughall continue to play and not give up as they have not done in all the matches this season, the results are definitely going to come. Well done lads.

Waverton Wasps 9 Saughall Colts 0

The Duke of Westminster cup game between Waverton Wasps and Saughall Colts was always going to be a tough game for Saughall, playing against a first division side. But from the outset, Saughall were a side determined for Waverton to work for the result they wanted.

With Spencer Rogers taking over as captain and playing in the centre of defence, the first half was fantastic. Saughall absorbed all the attacks Waverton threw at them and even on occasion amounted a break. With a comparatively new defence, Waverton managed to find their way through twice to make the half time score 2-0.

Second half saw Saughall battle harder, but this created the opportunity for Waverton to score several times on the break. The eventual scoreline of 9-0 could have been more but for the heroics of man of the match goalkeeper Sam Evans.

Every player can give themselves a pat on the back for never giving up. The results are going to come….well done lads

Saughall Colts 1 - 4 Waverton Hornets

The match started well with plenty of battles in the midfield. Saughall had the luxury of having full squad and one substitute for the first time this season. However, with 4 new players trying to find their feet in the side, Saughall went behind after a mix up in defence. An injury to Spencer Rogers saw him come off for a time before half time.

The second half saw more of the same good football that has been apparent since the beginning of the season with both sides testing the each other defence. Solid performances once again from Elliot Long and Henry Newton, and some good saves from goalkeeper Sam Evans.

Final score was 4-1 to  Waverton, with man of the match Oliver Rollins getting Saughall’s goal in the second half. Special mention for Spencer Rogers who was brave enough to come back on in the second half and showed that he is not only a good striker, can certainly hold his own in defence.

Well done lads

Westminster Park 3 v 0 Saughall Colts

10 man Saughall once again battled hard and at times did not look like they were a player short. Plenty of hard but fair tackling from both sides producing another excellent afternoon of football. Kim McKee in particular starting to show what a useful player we know he can be. Sam Evans in goal for Saughall produced some good saves, while at the other end, Westminster Park struggled with the pace of Oliver Rollins and Spencer Rogers, who has just returned from injury. Half time score was 2-0.

Second half saw Sam Evans come out of goal to play in the centre of defence with Aiden Gorman. Elliot Long moved forward, Henry Newton as replacement keeper produced some good saves and even saved a penalty only for it to be retaken due to encroachment in the area.

Final score was 3-0 to Westminster Park

Princess Villa 3 v Saughall Colts 0

On a beautiful warm Sunday afternoon, Saughall Colts kicked off their 2nd game of the season with only 10 players. With some fantastic football being played by both sides, Saughall went a goal down early on due partly to the ball being lost sight of in the bright sunshine. Saughall had their own chances with some good interchange of play between Aiden Gorman, Ollie Rollins and Jake Edwards. The score at half time was 2-0.

Princess Villa scored a third goal within two minutes of the restart which turned out to be the final score. Both teams should be congratulated for the football they as it was a pleasure to watch.

Saughall Colts 1 v Malpas & District JFC 4

This was a fantastic opening game of the season from two sides who love to play football. Aiden Gorman scored Saughall Colts only goal of the game quite early in the first half. But this was cancelled out soon after by Malpas who added to the score before half time to make it 2-1. The second half saw plenty of chances from both sides but only Malpas were able to add to their tally to make the eventual result 4-1.
